Angel McCoughtry is one of the most accomplished players in women’s basketball history. A Top 25 WNBA Player of All Time, she is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, five-time WNBA All-Star, two-time WNBA scoring champion, and seven-time All-Defensive Team honoree. Known for her competitiveness and leadership, Angel has built a legacy that extends far beyond the court. She has partnered with global brands including Adidas, Nike, JBL, Airbnb, Honey Stinger, Bulgari, ESPN, and the Olympics, and became the first WNBA player to have an original song featured in NBA 2K23.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Angel earned a scholarship to the University of Louisville, where she became the program’s all-time leader in points, rebounds, and steals, leading the Cardinals to their first national championship appearance. She was selected No. 1 overall in the 2009 WNBA Draft and went on to become one of the league’s most dominant players while also winning Olympic gold medals with Team USA in 2012 and 2016.
Off the court, Angel is an entrepreneur, filmmaker, and philanthropist. She founded McCoughtry Entertainment to produce film and television projects that amplify diverse voices, including We Are The W, Ballin’ in Baltimore, Lanier, and her directorial debut short film Bygones. Through her philanthropic initiative, McCoughtry’s Mission, she revitalizes basketball courts, hosts youth camps—including programs in Ghana—and mentors young people in sports, wellness, and the arts.
