Sign Language: How to Deal with an Aries Boss

Do you speak boss-strology? We do.

Step 1: Know your boss' birthday

Step 2: Read on...

Date range: March 21 - April 19

Lucky Numbers: 1, 8, 17

Strengths: Courageous, determined, confident, enthusiastic, optimistic, honest, passionate

Weaknesses: Impatient, moody, short-tempered, impulsive, aggressive

In honor of our CEO and founder Jaclyn Johnson’s birthday (shhh it’s today) and our favorite feminist Bobby Hundreds (shhh it’s today too!! yes, they share a bday) we are breaking down how to handle an Aries boss like a boss.

Aries is the first sign in the Zodiac-- a leader and a pioneer. A ram to be reckoned with that doesn't stand for any bull.

So it should come as no surprise that an Aries would launch their own business. They have a go-get-’em attitude when it comes to career and they like to see the same from their employees. They don’t like to lose and they do things with speed.

So how do you impress an Aries boss (or an Aries co-worker) in the workplace? Take notes (they'd like that).

Aries are often highly organized, completing many tasks before most of us have ticked one off the old to-do list. If you lean toward unorganized, take a page from an Aries and write it down and really work on honing those organizational skills. Since Aries' tend to think and speak fast, it’s easy to miss a key detail in conversation. Don’t let important facts whiz by. You have to be on your game when it comes to meetings. Bring a pen. Paper helps too.

Nothing is impossible for an Aries. For instance, problem-solving should always be in the positive. You don’t want to tell an Aries boss “The problem is…” Start with a solution, they will appreciate this approach, even when you're delivering not so great news. The first step to success is "yes."

If you’re looking for a job with work/life balance, be aware that a passionate Aries boss will expect an all hands on deck attitude. You’ll prob get a few texts on the weekend. Don't freak out. Simply answer them. Boundaries are important (and we know you deserve down time as much as the next) but if you fight it chances are you will spend more time thinking about how you don't want to answer a text on the weekend then it would take to answer it. Aries get fidgety with downtime. A simple yes or no will likely suffice to keep everything calm and create a much more positive office environment come Monday am.

That said, be prepared that Aries throw themselves into their work with wild abandon (sometimes, yes, at the cost of balance) but they are incredibly optimistic about outcomes and they truly want everyone around them to succeed. Allow this attitude to rub off on you. Get positive through osmosis if need be, it’s a must-have approach to handling the ups and downs like a pro.

Aries don’t like to wait around for things to get done, they’re doers and they expect others to be doers as well. Inactivity is their hell. Thanks to its ruling planet Mars and the fact it belongs to the element of Fire, Aries is one of the most active zodiac signs-- it's in their blood. This can come across as impatient or impulsive and might prove challenging for employees who haven’t mastered the art of reading their boss’ mind. Get ahead of the game by using your most prized talents-- what you were actually hired to do. If you don't know how your boss will react to a "crazy" idea, impress them with the skills you are confident in.

Nothing impresses an Aries boss like the ability to complete a task.

So get it done girl. Get. It. Done. Just like an Aries would.

How to Food Prep for Your Work Week

So tasty.

Don’t get bummed out by the Sunday night back-to-work blues. Get ahead of the game instead. Studies show that successful people PREP for their week with a few key habits: concentrating on the positive, taking an hour to organize their calendar, and mapping out their meals. That’s right.

When you map your meals on Sunday, you have a more productive Monday. And that attitude carries through your week.

So with a little recipe prep help from our friends at Hormel Foods, we’ve gathered some great recipes and ideas to get your through the week.

SKIPPING LUNCH IS BAD FOR YOUR BRAIN… AND BUSINESS

Skipping lunch to get more work done is never a good idea. Your body and brain shut down when you don’t eat. Instead of stressing through your lunch hour, only to order something unhealthy and fast at the last minute, opt for prep instead.

You wouldn’t walk into a major meeting unprepared, so why would you do that to your own body?

The Natural Choice® brand has so many amazing lunch options. From DIY Bento Lunches that are low calorie, high-fuel for on-the-go working women, to protein-packed, Sonoran Power Taco Bowls for powerhouse ladies, and more, you can pack a lunch filled with  that will also have your taste buds melting with joy. For more ideas check out all of The Natural Choice® brand recipe options.

EATING EVERY TWO TO FOUR HOURS HELPS KEEP YOU ALERT

Any time you go longer than five hours without eating, your energy crashes. And crashes hard. Especially when your brain is working overtime in a go-go-get-‘em office environment.

If your blood sugar drops, so does your productivity, which is why keeping healthy snacks on hand  a great way to power through those 3pm conference calls. Meat, cheese, and almonds snacks boost brain power and replenish energy. Hormel Foods offers four great snackable options to keep on hand and keep you firing on all cylinders. Or opt for their Hormel Gatherings® Culinary Pairings for an array of salamis, cheeses, pecans, walnuts, and almonds. Or bring a Hormel Gatherings® party tray for the whole office. Food is universal perk and it will not only boost your morale, but company morale as well.

GATHER YOUR CO-WORKERS & INDULGE A BIT

Many studies show that small reward-based incentives will keep you on track through the work week. So you should enjoy indulgences where you can-- even better if you can share with your co-workers as well. And who doesn’t love a little chip and guac action? When rushing out the door in the AM, grab a Wholly Guacamole® Mini Guacamole for your lunch or pure and simple Wholly Guacamole® Classic Guacamole Tray to share with your coworkers during a brainstorm. We’ve heard avocados and their omegas are good for that…

What are some other ways you stay on track during the workweek? Share your favorite at-home prep recipes below!

How to Throw a Beautiful Boss Bridal Shower

One for the books.

I've been engaged for the past year to my incredible fiance and it's been an interesting journey with many lessons learned, one of which I wasn't expecting--I'm not great at being a bride. I love throwing parties, hosting events and putting together our conferences, I'm not great at sitting opening gifts and playing the role of the blushing bride-to-be. Don't get me wrong I am so excited about getting married but I know one thing -- I'm better at being the boss than being the bride.

However, going through all the traditions - my bachelorette and now my bridal party -- I've really enjoyed spending time with the amazing women in my life; hearing their stories of marriage, kids, career especially spanning generations. When we started planning the bridal shower, I told my sister I really wanted to work with all female-owned businesses and vendors -- this is something I have made a priority over the past several years, and it's been awesome getting to know so many incredibly talented women.

For my dress, I teamed up with Megan, owner of Lighthouse Bridal and letterpress design in Fort Lauderdale (we met via her email to C&C!). Her selection was incredible featuring brands such as Daughters of Simone and Alexandra Grecco. We landed on me wearing the Farrah from Stone Fox Bride. For all the South Florida brides this is a must stop.

We also worked with Rockstar Catering owned by Rachel Pintarelli, a total boss babe, to come up with a super fun menu. The food and mimosa station was adorned with calligraphy menu's by Natalia from Papel & Co. The lush and bright florals ran across the entire table were orchestrated by Beth from Southern Floral Company and we had incredible succulents courtesy of Shop Succulent owned by Jessica De Gennaro .

The  bridal gift boxes filled with customized treats were from the owner and creator of Chic Sweets, Natalie Clamp. The styling and set up came together with the help Lauren Stewart of Urban Vintage. Guests sat family style at the handmade farm tables by Pat Ryan Designs, adorned with chairs and vintage rentals from husband and wife duo at True Love Decor. The boho antique screen served as a backdrop for opening gifts and was created by the talented Kathy Peterson Inspired.

Links We Love: Sayonara 2016, Hello 2017!

From what Carrie Fisher & Leia Organa represent to new year's resolutions you shouldn't and should make, here's how we're wrapping up 2016.

2017 is a little over 24 hours away, and while we'll be looking back at some of 2016's most defining moments tomorrow, this internet also offered some great reads this week to help tie up the final week of 2016.

Here's to hoping that 2017 sees more female billionaires.

And even MORE women in tech companies.

Creating a list of New Year's Resolutions? They might just end up in failure.

However, you should stick to these New Year's Resolutions.

First, it was Facebook, and then Instagram this year. Now in 2017, Twitter is going to have an algorithmic timeline.

2016 kind of sucked. But at least these happy moments were caught on camera for the Internet to enjoy.

If you're thinking of a non-conventional bachelorette party, you might want to follow the lead of this woman.

Long live the Princess: This series of tweets nail exactly why Leia Organa and Carrie Fisher embody the definition of a strong woman, despite all the odds.
Rest in peace Carrie Fisher.

A New Year's Resolution That's Easy to Keep

And will boost your communication skills too.

Lately, it seems that more and more invites for all things festive and fun come via email rather than the postal service, especially over the holidays. While tracking RSVPs online simplifies the party-planning process, it doesn’t mean we should give up on traditional correspondence. A card is a classic way to let somebody know you appreciate them while making a lasting impression. Don’t believe us? Take it from our C&C Atlanta keynote speaker, actor and activist, Meghan Markle, who told us that she often sends out and loves to receive handwritten thank you notes. "I can't tell you how few of them I get," she said, "but one hundred percent of the time, I end up remembering that person."

It’s an approach to business and life that can easily be worked into your 2017 resolutions. Here’s how!

SEND A WARM NEW YEAR GREETING

So, you didn’t get around to taking the picture-perfect holiday card. Not a problem. The New Year is the perfect time to send someone special a card that wishes them the best in 2017. Thinking of others is a great way to start your January off on the right foot.

Send fancy, fizzy wishes for the New Year with a card that sparkles as bright as you hope their new year will, like these cards from Papyrus

HANDWRITE YOUR THANK-YOUS

Make a “thank you list” and check it twice because they pile up as fast as the presents you receive. From grandparents to bosses, to hosts of holiday parties and gatherings, you will have a lot of thanking to do. Hit pause on sending out digital appreciation; just like it’s fun to open a present, there is nothing like opening a piece of mail.

"Hit pause on sending out digital appreciation; there is nothing like opening a piece of mail."

Tweet this

Not only that - writing out a thank you note goes a long way to show your appreciation and will last longer than an email. People are more likely to hold onto thank you notes and beautiful cards to display around their office or living space. Think of a card as a sweet memory in return for their generosity.

MAKE IT WORTH REMEMBERING

Remember the old rule “show, don’t tell?” A well-written and memorable thank you note follows this line of thought.

You don’t have to write a novel to create meaningful thank you notes or New Year’s wishes; you can express how much you appreciate their generosity in one or two sentences. Single out a memorable moment. What it felt like opening the gift. An instance in which you’ve since used it. Use these prompts to express your thanks and wishes for a happy and healthy 2017.

BONUS: IT HELPS YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS

We’re used to firing off emails. (Anyone else ever met their email quota for the day? Yep, it’s a thing.) Digital communication may be quick, but it isn’t necessarily the most meaningful or effective. It’s important to honor the practice of sending letters, writing notes, and thank you letters to keep relationships strong and grounded in real-life.

Think of the last time you opened a letter and thought, “Wow, what a great feeling.” Be sure to pass that feeling on as we enter 2017. It will not go unnoticed.

Gal on the Go: Ultimate Boss Guide to Charlotte, North Carolina

Queens in the Queen City.

CREATE & INNOVATE in collaboration with Marriott Hotels

What more do you need from a trip than amazing coffee and a perfect spot to lay your head? Something to fuel you as you traverse a new city? And a pillow to catch you at the end of a well spent day?

That's just what Coco & the Director (above) provides-- the coffee part, at least. It's a locally sourced coffee shop right inside the lobby of the Charlotte Marriott City Center, which recently celebrated its grand opening. And we got our fill of expertly roasted beans, the most tech-savvy lobby we've ever seen, and boss women in the Queen City when we headed to Charlotte last month.

Like our past City Guide's, we met and profiled women who are at different points in their careers, each with a different focus and personal definition of success and balance. Women who have made the decision to strike out on their own-- and haven't looked back yet. Queens in the Queen City, if you will.

LAUREN HOOKER, FOUNDER ELLE & COMPANY

Lauren Hooker started her design business Elle & Company in 2014, after reneging on a childhood pact she made with herself to "never, ever own a business."

"My dad owned a gym in our small hometown when I was growing up, and after seeing all the stress and time he poured into that venture." She says she swore up and down that she wouldn't follow suit. Instead, she pursued her life-long passion for design, nabbing a BFA in Visual Communication Design from Virginia Tech. From there she landed a design position at a startup. But her boss, a 45-minute commute, and lack of creative freedom left her feeling lackluster about her position. "So," she says, "I did what any creative who hates their day job would do; I started freelancing."

It was during this time she felt the freedom that comes with owning your own business.

Since then, Elle & Company has grown from a design studio to a business resource for creative entrepreneurs. "I love what I do," says Lauren. She's also the current household #breadwinner while her husband Jake, is back in school.

Lauren says, "I'm happy to be the 'breadwinner' of our family during this season. I know Jake would do the same for me if I ever chose to go back to school.

More crazy than being the sole provider these past 3 years is that my business has not only been supporting us, but it's allowed us to pay for his schooling and save for our future. It's been a huge blessing."

Even though she's found herself in this role, Lauren says she never imagined she'd be an entrepreneur. "I'm a workhorse, but I've never considered myself a visionary.

Over these last three years I've come to learn that there's two kinds of entrepreneurs: those who were born entrepreneurs and are always looking for the next business idea, and those who were born creative and want to start a business to carry out their ideas on their own terms. Jake is a natural-born entrepreneur; I'm a natural-born creative. We make a good team."

"I'm a workhorse, but I've never considered myself a visionary."

Tweet this.

This past year she's been able to bring on two part-time assistants, increase her prices, and focus on some passive income streams. And Charlotte is the perfect place for Lauren as she continues to grow. "I'm a southern, East coast girl, through and through. Charlotte is a good mix of southern charm and city life. It's clean, it's growing, and it's close to both the mountains and the water. We love it here."

She's sharing her favorite spots in the city below.

Best spot in Charlotte to hear live music: Neighborhood Theatre

Grab a morning cup of coffee: Not Just Coffee

Grab an afternoon cup of coffee: Amelie's Bakery (see above images)

Tourist spot in Charlotte that’s a guilty pleasure:  Romare Bearden Park

Tourist spot that you’ve never visited:  U.S. National Whitewater Center

Your favorite spot in Charlotte to sit and be still: Freedom Park

Favorite date night spot:  Napa on Providence

MARSHA BARNES, FOUNDER THE FINANCE BAR

Marsha Barnes started her career in the banking world, a place that provided her great opportunities, but the finance guru says that her true calling is much different than a banking setting. "There is a huge gap and percentage of people who are under-served on their financial journey," Marsha says.

"The world of personal finance is very similar to gaining levels of education, you begin with the basics and navigate your way up depending on your situation. I wanted to close that gap."

So she created The Finance Bar, a mobile finance station designed to service everyone stressed about their financial standing. The idea came about specifically to "not exclude anyone," says Marsha. "It allows me to travel to organizations, corporations and educational institutions and connect with people in a non-traditional financy type of way."

She also recently launched her Coaching Suite, what she calls a much more intimate experience than the mobile unit. At the suit she's offering  1:1 support for singles, couples and entire families that need guidance.

Marsha wasn't always so money savvy. "As a young lady I wanted all the things that I knew my money could buy. When I received my first promotion in the corporate world the first thing I wanted was a BMW and I didn't earn BMW type of money back then. I wanted my title at work to match my lifestyle. But she is keen on sharing her know-how and how-to, especially during the spendiest season of all. "During your down time stop and think about the life that you truly desire for yourself. Is it to vacation more, create your own business, spend more time with family?" she asks. "Believe it or not, money affects a lot of what we do in life. Be mindful of your dreams-the holidays will come and go but will your dreams?"

Here's a list of Marsha's favorite and financially smart places in Charlotte. (Why spend $$ when you can hit up a spot for free?)

Favorite spot to have a cup of morning coffee: Not coffee, but definitely hot-chocolate at the bookstore with my husband.

Best location to watch the sunset: On my porch.

Grab a post work drink with a friend: Jade Asian Fusion

The one place in the city where you’ll splurge: Books-A-Million

Where you can get the most bang for your buck: The library. It's full of free learning.

Favorite spot to sit and be still: The library and my porch.

Awesome neighborhoods you got to explore while taking the mobile hub on the road: Any neighborhood in my community. You never know what people are experiencing unless you are willing to meet them "where" they are.

HOLLY HOLLINGSWORTH PHILLIPS, CO-OWNER THE ENGLISH ROOM

"I often want to scoop it all up. I am a true shopaholic and I am thrilled to have the job that pays me for it," explains Holly Hollingsworth Phillips, co-owner of The English Room, an interior design business originally run by Holly and her mother, Nancy Hollingsworth.

"My mother does not accept the word 'NO,'" says Holly. "She is persistent to a fault sometimes. That has served me well to get things done and maneuver difficult situations."

It's something Holly's been actively doing for over 20 years. Immersed in the world of design at a young age, Holly went on her first buying trip to Europe at 12.

She also learned to be "kind to everyone you meet. The subs and people who do lots of the actual install make this business happen," explains Holly. "Those relationships should be cherished and well-respected."

They are relationships that she's built over the last 20 years, but don't think that makes her unadaptable. "Access online has broadened knowledge and sources for everyone-- clients and designers alike," she shares. "I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest because the client can peruse ideas for days and get so confused. Yet, it has become an integral tool for me with secret boards for each project. It is a way for clients and I to share ideas easily."

Iris Apfel is another huge influence on the designer. A woman who Holly says is a true design icon. She has been, "an interior designer, a textile designer, a business owner, a shopaholic and she has now become a fashion icon. I respect her desire to not be swayed by trends bit to dress for herself," Holly says. "I have always abided by her 'more is more and less is a bore' philosophy."

"I have always abided by her 'more is more and less is a bore' philosophy."

Things have also changed a bit since she was 12 browsing antiques in faraway places, but the travel component of her work has not. To get into travel mode Holly says, "I research like nobodies business! I cull my design friends for their knowledge of the location. I research travel guides for each location ad nauseam to find all the best spots prior to a trip. I make a Pinterest board. I map everything on Google maps and make a very set itinerary." And yet she's remains open spontaneity. "Plan and over plan so you can go with the flow and relax knowing you didn't miss a thing."

Don't miss anything on Holly's list of her favorite spots in Charlotte below.

Best spot in Charlotte to be inspired: The Mint Museum

Grab a morning cup of coffee: At home, my husbands coffee is the best. Love Amelie’s in Noda or Little Spoon for a weekend treat.

Grab an afternoon cup of coffee: Starbucks because it is 100 yards from my office. I wish Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was in Charlotte.

Tourist spot that’s a guilty pleasure: Pinky’s Westside Grill - Get the Pimpin’ Fries smothered in pimento cheese…worth the heart attack.

Tourist spot that you’ve never visited: Nascar Hall of Fame

Best under the radar shopping spot: Hidell Brooks Gallery for incredible art, Sleepy Poet for an occasional random design score.

Find amazing vintage: Slate Interiors

Your favorite spot in Charlotte to sit and be still: Foxcroft Wine Company with great bottle of Cali Chard and cheese plate.

A restaurant that has amazing food: Kindred in Davidson is by far the best restaurant in the area!

A restaurant that has amazing interior decor: Kindred or Reid’s for chic french bistro style…or Halcyon at The Mint Museum. (This is not Charlotte’s forte…I would love to design one chic interior.)

Be sure to check back on our final stop of the year with Marriott Hotels. Up next: we are heading to Seattle, WA.

Links We Love: Mitigating Fake News, Working During Your Commute & Presents for Everyone!

TGIF, am I right?

We're in holiday limbo. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas where it's super hard to stay focused at work.

We're guilty of it. Which is why we're sharing with you all the links we've read through in between emails all week. ;)

Why did Rihanna and Prince Harry get HIV tests together? Find out.

If you want to buy your BFF the cheapest gift from the most expensive brands. Like soap, from Chanel.

Interviews with 100 American workers on what their jobs are really like.

Fake news was pretty popular this election cycle. Snap (formerly Snapchat) managed to keep it out. But how?

Do you have a NIGHTMARE commute? If you're not the driver, here's how to get work done during those to and fro moments.

If you think that the Sunday after Thanksgiving is rightfully called "F**k, I Have To Go Back To Work Tomorrow Sunday", then you're most likely to retweet these tweets.

Are you assertive at work? You might be getting paid more than your "nice" coworkers.

Spotify knows what you're listening to, and it has no chill when it comes to outing you for listening to Holiday music in July.

Wondering how Snapchat revolutionized social networks? Here's how

The One Way You Still Aren’t Using Amazon

And it's guaranteed to bring money back into your pocket.

Photo by Kelley Raye, collection by Rachel Zoe

Chances are, you use Amazon for just about everything. From ordering tech and books to getting last minute deliveries on Prime. You stream movies and order dog food in a pinch. But Amazon is also a fashion treasure trove, and they are delivering up the goods this holiday season. You may not yet know that you can also buy your holiday party wardrobe and NYE outfit from your favorite brands on Amazon! Including all accessories.

Better yet, if you’re a fashion blogger, you probably did not know that you can earn advertising fees for linking to Amazon Fashion products through their affiliate marketing program, Amazon Associates.

Amazon Associates helps influencers get a share of the revenue. As Amazon has grown its fashion footprint to become one of the largest online apparel retailers, its Associates program is also adding new opportunities to help fashion influencers monetize their blog, including special financial incentives and premium content for qualified influencers. This is great news for you if you have a fashion blog and especially if your readers are Prime members!

At Create & Cultivate Atlanta many influencers who stopped by the Amazon Fashion booth were excited by the program, especially after being able to browse their great brands at the booth. Many signed up to learn more on the spot, spirited by the possibility of leveraging Amazon in a supplementary way.

With millions of products to choose from and thousands of fashion brands beloved by bloggers—from Rachel Zoe to Vince to BB Dakota—there are a thousand ways to monetize your outfit blog posts.

It’s an earnings opportunity that offers special incentives for qualified fashion influencers, who get access to premium content like curated newsletters and Amazon experiences, such as working with Style Code Live, Amazon’s daily, 30-minute live show where style enthusiasts can connect, chat, shop, and get the inside scoop on the latest fashion and beauty trends.

One of our favorite perks about Amazon Associates is that you still get paid even if a user buys a product different from the one you linked to on Amazon. The way the affiliate program is structured actually ensures that you get paid for “halo” items bought within a 24-hour period of arriving on Amazon via your affiliate link (with a few exceptions for certain items). And you know how easy it is to buy multiple products on Amazon when you’re Prime!

To make the most out of this program, get started today! Holiday gifting season is one of the biggest online shopping times of the year and it's already here. Which means you might make a little extra to shop for friends and family this year.

To create an Amazon Associates account, create your Store ID here. To apply to be a fashion influencer with Amazon Associates, email fashion-associates@amazon.com with 1) Subject: Amazon Fashion Associates Application, 2) Your blog URL, 3) Your Instagram Handle and followers, 4) Your Store ID (see above).

Amazon Fashion was a sponsor at Create & Cultivate Atlanta.

How to Recreate the Look of Create & Cultivate at Home

Transform any room in your house.

Create & Cultivate and High Fashion Home are aesthetically a great fit. And we can never get enough of the vignettes created at our conferences. If we could transport them into our own living rooms, we would. (And you can.)

We checked in with HFH co-founder Dolley Frearson about the company's presence at C&C, best sellers, and how to transform any room in your house.

What about High Fashion Home speaks to the C&C girl?

I think HFH speaks to the C&C girl because we offer them the freedom to choose from a large section of high-style and high-design products that caters to her intelligence, creativity, and individuality. The C&C girl knows how to create her own look; she just needs the right selection/mix of products ranging from timeless and modern to bohemian and eclectic. She loves being fashion-forward and different, but the space must be practical and functional as well.

Who is the ‘High Fashion Home' woman?

She is a confident, worldly woman who loves high-design home décor that suits her modern, eclectic lifestyle. Home décor is important to her because her home/space is her sanctuary that brings her joy and allows her to create memories with family and friends. She loves inspiration and to get lost in her discoveries. Decorating is a journey to her. She is also a savvy shopper who will not compromise on quality and enjoys a seamless, transparent and authentic customer service experience.

"The C&C girl knows how to create her own look."

We create little vignettes on site at C&C that end up being the most photographed, but what is the best way to update a room? What pieces can we add to create updated “vignettes” at home?

I would say artwork, rug, pillows, and accessories...or any combo of these.

What are your favorite items on the HFH site?
Current faves: Camino Swivel Chairs, Celfie VasesRevelation II ArtworkGigi Mongolian Fur Chair, Gold, Wildwood Candleholder, BrassChloe Fossil Clam Lava Coffee Table, and Solo Dining Chairs

What are some of the best sellers?

And what makes the store both online and the Houston brick and mortar unique?

What makes our online store and brick and mortar unique is our carefully curated selection of furniture and home décor accessories and how we create room ideas to inspire our customers. Our store is 125,000 square feet and four stories and for those who have shopped in our Houston store, they will tell you that is like a home décor mecca. It would take hours to walk through the store which is a good thing and a bad thing. But the best part is our layout and merchandise mix. We really love to mix it up and it's our goal and mantra to inspire our customers. It's wonderful when you hear first-time or long-time customers say that our place is so inspirational and their favorite place to go and wander. It's so flattering because we know how important their time is and the fact that they want to spend it in our "home"...that just makes me feel so proud of our work and our team.

We are also very proud of our wonderful manufacturing partners and eco-initiatives. We take the time to seek out products made from salvaged or sustainably harvested wood, plant-based materials, recycled fibers, and USA-made upholstery. About 95% of our upholstery products (sofas, sectionals, beds, chairs, etc.) are bench-made in the North Carolina. We are also committed to our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation; For every piece of furniture sold at our store and online, we plant a tree -- so far, that's over 120,700 trees planted!

BTS: Our #CreateCultivateATL Speaker Dinner with Crown Royal

An exclusive look at our speaker dinner last week.

We can't believe it's almost been a week since we sat down to delicious cocktails from Crown Royal Vanilla and even more delicious convo at our speaker dinner at the W Atlanta in Downtown. Is it possible to FOMO post event? We think so.

So we're throwing it back to a night of "bests." Where Sarah Michelle Gellar called the night's specialty Vanilla Fashioned cocktail the "prettiest drink ever" she's ever seen. Where the Beckerman Twins, Cailli and Sam deemed their personalized monogrammed bags, "the best takeaway ever." (Which, we'd have to agree.) And countless boss ladies from Nicolette Mason to Adrianna Adarme of A Cozy Kitchen and Ingrid Nilsen raised a glass and toasted to being in a room filled with amazing female energy.

The Crown Royal Vanilla Fashioned is "the prettiest drink ever."

Jaclyn Johnson, founder of Create & Cultivate addressed the speakers, telling them that the kick-off dinner is an event that she looks forward to every year. "It is an honor to have each and every one of you here tonight," she said, "and I am so excited for you guys to experience the conference tomorrow."

Click through the gallery below and enjoy the night's cocktail recipe from Crown Royal!

Vanilla Fashioned

1 sugar cube soaked in orange bitters

2oz Crown Royal Vanilla

Frozen flowers

Flamed orange zest

Place the sugar cube in a rocks glass with orange bitters, top with 2oz Crown Royal Vanilla. Once the sugar dissolves you put in your ice (containing frozen edible flowers) and stir! Orange peels are a great garnish (and you can even ignite the citrus oil when you squeeze the peel by a lit match).

Cheers!
